Unidentified Persons

Unidentified Persons are profiled on the website if the cases meet the following criteria:

  • The person is located (living or deceased) at least two years prior to the current year.
  • The case is on file with either a law enforcement agency or medical examiner's/coroner's office or medical facility.

For unidentified persons (living or deceased) located less than two years of the current year, an investigating agency may request the case be added as a Hot Case.

To submit a case, please use our Unidentified Remains Intake Form.

Each case is provided a unique number which is intended for our organizational purpose only. This number should not be given to other agencies when providing information on a particular case featured on our website. When made available, we have provided the investigating agency's case number, as well as the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) number for US and Canadian cases. NCIC numbers are not available for cases outside of the US or Canada.
