Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
On April 15, 1987, the 17-year-old girl and her twin brother, were driving along state Route 46 when their car ran out of gas. Her brother stepped out into the rainy night and began walking for help. Leanne stayed with the car. When he returned, about 15 minutes later, his sister was missing. Her handbag and keys were on the car seat and there was no sign of a struggle.
Authorities had a suspect in Green's disappearance, a man who was incarcerated for rape after she went missing. The suspect took investigators to several places where he claimed he had buried Green's body, but searches of those locations turned up no evidence. The individual was subsequently murdered in prison and was never charged in Green's case.
