Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance
Kathryn Adam was last seen on April 29, 1993 at 4:30 AM, at Kwik Trip, 1727 W. Crawford in Salina, Kansas.
A surveillance camera at Kwik Trip captured the last known photo of Adam.
Her L'eggs Hosiery delivery van were missing and blood was found outside a storage unit Adam used. Police later found the van -- its exterior splattered with mud and its interior soaked with blood -- parked in the parking lot of Russell's Restaurant, 649 Westport. The restaurant was closed at the time for building repairs.
Officials speculated that Adam, who was separated from her husband and living in Salina with her 16-year-old daughter, was attacked when she went to the storage unit after filling her van with gasoline.
Police said at the time that a large pool of blood was found outside the storage building and a small amount of blood was found inside. The door of the unit was opened, and it appeared Adam had been loading the van with merchandise.
While Salina police have classified the case as a murder, Adam's body never has been found, and no one has been charged with a crime in connection with her disappearance.
Adam was a route salesperson for L'egg's.
