Circumstances of Disappearance
Markovich was last seen at her father's house on April 26, 1987. The father reported her as missing the day after she left and failed to return home.
Alicia Markovich resided with her mother, in Windber, Somerset County, and was to spend the Sunday with her father. Alicia left the house after a heated discussion. As Alicia left her father instructed her to be back by 8 p.m., but she did not respond and continued walking.
Alicia was a freshman at Windber High School, where she was a member of the school's track team. Alicia's disappearance was initially treated as a runaway juvenile, but investigators soon feared foul play was involved.
