Circumstances of Disappearance
Mark Bachelder was last seen surfing off of Bryan Beach with a friend. Bachelder was part of a group of Houston teenagers on an overnight camping trip to Bryan Beach, where the Brazos River empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
The boys paddled away circa 06.00.

The beach patrol were called when they had not returned by 23.00. The search went on for days.
No trace of the boys, nor their boards were located.
