Trackers traced his steps to the edge of the north fork of the Yuba River near Sierra City. He apparently walked to the river and disappeared.
A dog tracked Lucchesi's scent to a house near his family's summer home, then to a spot 5 feet from the river's edge where the scent went cold. Additional trackers and dogs tracked Lucchesi to about the same spot.
Lucchesi was reported missing on on June 3, a day after his brothers returned to the family cabin and found him gone.
