Circumstances of Disappearance
Charles was last seen on December 23, 1972. The Waterford cattle rancher disappeared in December 1972, a few weeks after he apparently was bilked of $30,000 by men he told police had threatened to kill him; had truck found parked along Highway 132 east of Waterford with the keys still in the ignition; according to family members, was despondent over the loss of the money and may have committed suicide.
