The decedent was located off Bessemer Mine Road near Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley, California.
A Caltrans worker found the woman buried in a shallow grave in the desert when he noticed her foot protruding from the grave. She was wrapped in plastic and bound with duct tape.
The decedent died from some sort of blow to her body (In a November 2001 newspaper article, officials declined to say where on her body she was hit).
