Circumstances of Disappearance
Dengerud, who had lived in rural New London, disappeared while traveling unfamiliar roads near Swift Falls on April 3, 1982. He was on his way to pick up his wife from her sister’s house. He never arrived.
Dengerud stopped at the home of an elderly couple to ask directions. They were the last people to see him alive, although there were several unsubstantiated reports he’d been seen in the St. Bonifacius area after that time.
His vehicle was located crashed into a small tree in Swift County with no sign of Dengerud.
He was married for 3 years and 10 months and has a daughter that was 15 months at time of his disapperance.
Dengerud may be suffering from amnesia and may be using a false name. He is a Vietnam veteran. He has relatives in Tallahassee, FL, and in Onamia, MN, and in Cannon Falls, MN. Before his disapperance he worked as a subcontractor.
