Mr. Goodwin was last seen being dropped off at the Ritz Motel on eastbound US Highway 67 in Texarkana, Arkansas on December 23, 1998. Earlier that day, he had been treated at the Wadley Regional Medical Center for abdominal pain and had been given a pain shot, prior to being dropped off at the motel. He called his mom that evening about 11PM, but she was not available to answer the call.
His family got a call around the Christmas holidays in 1999 to say that he had been at the Living Hope Mental Hospital and then was transferred to a state hospital. This has not been confirmed. Foul play has not been ruled out in this case.
Mr. Goodwin suffers from a number of physical and mental ailments including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, high blood pressure, and gastrointestinal problems.
