Verna Susan Bjerky
Missing since May 2, 1981 from Yale, British Columbia, Canada
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
On May 2, 1981, Verna Bjerky left a friend's place in Hope, British Columbia, with plans to hitchhike to Kamloops, British Columbia where her boyfriend resided. Verna never made it to Kamloops and she has never been seen or heard from again.
Verna was working the night-shift as a waitress at the Godfather, a steak and pizza restaurant in Hope, B.C. when she went missing. Yale is about 15 miles from Hope and Verna, who didn't have a car, often got off work very late. So instead of waking up her family when she came home she frequently stayed at a friend’s house.

Five months after her disappearance, some of Verna's belongings were found a short distance outside of Hope, along Highway 7.
Police suspect Verna may be a victim of convicted serial killer Clifford Olson.
