Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Maebell Dawson has been missing since January 3, 1998 from her apartment at Martin Luther Manor, 1453 Liscum Drive in Jefferson Township. She had lived there a little more than a year.
According to friends and family members, Mrs. Dawson was last seen entering her apartment on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at about 21:30 P.M. There was no forced entry at Dawson's second-floor, one-bedroom apartment in the two-story 50-unit brick facility located near a wooded area.
When family members were unable to reach her they became concerned and went to check on her. Mrs. Dawson's coat and purse were found inside her apartment, with wallet, money and credit cards inside - along with a rent check dated January 8, 1998. Investigators tracked Dawson's phone bills, bank and utility transactions and talked with her friends outside Ohio. She has never called them or accessed her funds.
Dawson was making the transition into retirement from her job in housekeeping at Miami Valley Hospital.
She had been a homemaker, a department store sales clerk, an elevator operator and a factory worker before retiring in 1996.
