Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Hunt was last seen in Smyth County, Virginia on January 17, 1985.
Hunt's sister saw her walking down Main Street in Marion, Virginia on the day of her disappearance. Barbara and her sister talked briefly, and Barbara was crying. (Barbara's sister later found out that Barbara was supposed to report to jail that day). Barbara was upset because the police wanted her to inform on her friends. Barbara stated to her sister that she did not intend to inform on them. Barbara headed for a Bar called the Club Cafe at the bottom of Marion's Main Street. It is reported that four girls took Barbara out of the club and that Barbara was pretty doped up. One of the women had a flat tire, so they borrowed someone else's car. They allegedly were seen loading something into the trunk of the car. 2 1/2 hours later they returned the car. However, Barbara was not with them. Barbara's parents tried to find Barbara the night of January 17, 1985 but was unable to locate her.

On June 9, 1995, Roger Dale Dunford, was arrested for Barbara Hunt's murder. Barbara was seeing Dunford at the time of her disappearance. However, the jury was unable to reach a verdict in the case.
