Circumstances of Disappearance
Sanford was last seen at his parents' home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 28, 1983.
The unemployed accountant received daily phone calls at his parent's house from a woman his family never met. The calls stopped when Sanford disappeared in 1983.
Sanford's parents returned home on December 28, 1983, to find their 28-year-old son missing. His clothes and car were also gone.
The car was found three days later in Arizona, but what became of Sanford remains a mystery.
It is believed that the woman caller may have a few pieces to the puzzle, but Sanford never told his parents her name. All they know is that she was a nurse.
