Source Information:
Grunwaldt was last seen riding a red Road Chief Marauder mountian bike, with red panniers on March 12, 1993 in Australia. She wore a white helmet. The bicycle she was riding was hired in Devonport and was booked for a 2 week period March 9-22.
Nancy was a resident of Germany at the time of her disappearance. She was on one years' leave from work, as a travel agent in Germany.
She was last seen on March 12, 1993 as she travelled south on her bike about 11:00 am, between St Helens and Bicheno on the east coast of Tasmania approximately five kilometers south of the town of Scamander on the Tasman Highway after leaving the St. Helens Hostel in St. Helens where she had been staying. She was reported missing on April 15.
Foul play is strongly suspected. The police
believe her death may be connected to the murder of another female
tourist who was brutally stabbed to death in Tasmania on October 11,
1995 within 5 km of where she was last seen.
Nancy's parents have visited the state several times since her disappearance participating in media conferences appealing for information.
