Jeffrey Allen Klungness
Missing since March 2, 1996 from Sumner, Pierce County, Washington
Classification: Endangered Missing
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance
Martin S."Marty" Malcolm was employed as a handyman at the time and he claimed he discovered Susan's body on the day of her death. Malcolm told authorities that he panicked and drove away in Susan's vehicle. Malcolm was arrested and charged with automobile theft shortly afterwards. Neighbors told investigators that Malcolm was seen with Jeffrey shortly before the child vanished. He was a known friend of Jeffrey's and had previously stolen $300 from Jeffrey's father. Malcolm has never been charged in connection with Susan's homicide or Jeffrey's disappearance. Malcolm had been convicted of second-degree murder in 1980.
An extensive search of the Bonney Lake area turned up few clues as to Jeffrey's whereabouts. Foul play is suspected in his disappearance.
Jeffrey's mother, Susan Klungness, was found deceased inside of their family's residence in Bonney Lake, Washington near Sumner on March 2, 1996. Her husband found her remains and called authorities. She had been killed by a blow to the head. There was no sign of Jeffrey. He was last heard from at 9:30 a.m. when his father called him from work.
