Watts, circa 1983
Marion Grant Watts
Missing since June 19, 1983 from Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana
Classification: Missing
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance
The 26-year-old LSU student was barefoot the summer day he disappeared in 1983. Both pairs of his shoes were found in his bedroom and his wallet was on his bed.
Watts had been depressed about the recent death of his mother, so his aunt
phoned him on June 19 and invited him to a party.
While they were talking, his aunt heard a car horn blow and Watts told her
he had to put on his shoes and was to go help a friend move some appliances. She
imagined Watts had to dash out the door but would phone her later. He never
did.
A week later, his grandfather reported him missing.
Watts has been described as a quiet, studious person who preferred staying
home and watching television to hanging out in bars and nightclubs. He
had worked as a salesman and was majoring in electrical engineering at LSU.
