Case History

On July 14, 2001 a human head was discovered floating in a local fishing pond at 2601 West 64th Avenue, in an industrial area of Adams County.

The head had been mechanically removed from the body. Divers who searched the bottom of the pond and dogs that scanned the perimeter did not find the remainder of the body. Investigators at the time said the head may have floated down Little Dry Creek into the pond.

Approximately one week later on July 21, 2001, right and left legs, from the calf down, were discovered in a field near 56th and Pecos. The legs had been severed from the body. The legs had been buried, with the right foot protruding from the ground. This was close to railroad tracks where homeless people camp.

DNA testing has linked the two legs and head as belonging to the same person.
No identification records were found near the body parts, and authorities were unable to link the victim to any missing persons.
