Circumstances of Disappearance
Patsy Gaisior disappeared from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1980.
Robert Andre Ruff and Frank Johnson were found guilty of her kidnapping. Ruff was convicted largely on the basis of testimony of an accomplice who said that Ruff shot Gaisior near the Anacostia River and threw her body into the water. Frank Johnson, pleaded guilty to murder and agreed to cooperate only after he and Ruff were convicted of federal kidnapping charges in Pennsylvania.
The men took Gaisior to the bank and made her withdraw money from her account, then she was taken to a motel in Washington, D.C. where she was raped. She was then taken to the Anacostia Park, where Robert Ruff shot her.
Gaisior has never been located.
