Vasquez was last seen at approximately 20:00 at his residence near the 1100 block of Rayo Street in Alice, TX. He was last seen getting into an an early 1980's white Ford pickup truck with TX license plates. He was visiting his brother-in-law and left to go to a nearby store.
His brother-in-law was admitted to a local hospital later that night with a gunshot wound to his chest, which he told deputies he had inflicted on himself accidentally. Later he said Vasquez had shot him, and he had then struck Vasquez in the head or neck and left him on the side of a road. The truck was later located abandoned at the Alice Police Department.
