Case File 1113DFWA

1
Aughe, circa

Wendy L Aughe
Missing since April 25, 1987 from Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington.
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Aughe left beauty school and left her daughter with grandmother. Did not tell friends she was leaving.
Darren D. O'Neall is a suspect in her disappearance. He worked as a bartender at the La Paloma Restaurant in Bellingham, Washington. It was there he met Wendy Aughe. O'Neall and Aughe were last seen together leaving the La Paloma on April 25 during the early morning hours. Aughe was never heard from again.
A search of Aughe's apartment revealed signs of a struggle, pools of blood, and blood soaked bed sheets and linen. The considerable evidence found inside Wendy Aughe's apartment suggested that a sexual assault had occurred there. After an APB was issued for O’Neall, a U.S. Customs agent soon reported having taken a photograph of O'Neall driving Aughe's car as he came back across the border into the U.S. from Canada, in the time frame when Wendy disappeared. O'Neall was the only person visible in the car in the spot check photo.
O'Neall was sentenced to 27 years and nine months in prison for the murder of a South King County woman. He was also sentenced for stealing Aughe's car.
