Circumstances of Discovery

A restaurant owner became suspicious of a woman loitering in front of his restaurant during the night and called the police. Thinking she was a runaway, the police transferred her to Montreuil-sous-Bois, to an emergency home for juveniles. She refused to give her identity and wouldn't speak. At times she would cry when people talked to her to get her identity, or to know where she came from, or if she was a victim of abuse. She had no identity papers. She was transferred to a hospital in the Parisian area. Police in Montreuil-sous-Bois named her "Alice." The Manu Association contacted police in several countries and forwarded her profile to no avail.
