Circumstances of Disappearance

Andrzej Komarniczki, commonly known as Andy Komarnicki, is a Polish National. He was engaged in the kangaroo carcass and hide industry at a property approximately three kilometers from St. George on the Surat Road.

Komarniczki was last seen on Saturday, 12th January, 1980, at about 7.30 pm when he left his residence at St. George to travel to his business premises for the purposes of checking refrigeration equipment and he has not been seen since.

The police later located his motor vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser Station Wagon, abandoned at a weir near the banks of the Balonne River some 300 meters from the kangaroo works. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were in the ignition switch. It is suspected that Andrzej Komarniczki has been murdered.
