Des Walsh was last seen at 2 A.M. on the 18 September, 1999. On that date he failed to turn up for work at the Dell Computer factory at Raheen, where he was living, but was later seen that evening at O'Connell Street, coming out of the "Works" Club in Bedford Roe, Limerick. Prior to that, he had been in Costello's Pub and in the Glentworth Hotel. There are reports that he was seen, after he left the Works club, on Limerick Docks at Harvey's Quay. He was supposed to come out to see his mother the night before he disappeared for her birthday and he used to come out every day to see his father who had cancer at this time. He left behind his clothes, bank card, keys of flat and passport and his bank account has not been touched.
He was not the only worker at Dell to have vanished. Two other security guards went missing during a two-year period. Aengus “Gussie” Shanahan (located in 2001, identified in 2018) and Matthew Carroll ( Case file 1643DMIRL ) also worked in security at Dell and were reported missing between 1998 and 2000.
