Gregory was last seen at Scone on 26 January 1992. He was fishing with friends at Lake Glenbawn near Scone. As the group proceeded to cross the lake to their camp site the boat was swamped by waves and overturned 700 meters from shore. As Gregory began to swim from shore, he disappeared from view. At 6.30am when the boat drifted to shore an alarm was raised. Extensive searches by Police divers and SES failed to locate any trace of Gregory.
