Circumstances of Disappearance

Winfield was last seen at her home in Lennox Head, New South Wales on May 16, 1993. Ms Winfield's estranged husband had told police she had received a mysterious phone call on the night of her disappearance. An unknown car arrived at the family house, and she was never seen again.

She has had no contact with her family since that date and there are genuine concerns for her welfare.

At the time of the initial police investigation, there were rumours the 31-year-old mum had left for Queensland's Gold Coast, but detectives now believe she almost certainly met with foul play. An investigation by Ballina police in 1998 led to a 2002 coronial inquest that found Mrs Winfield was deceased.
