One of his nephew's met him in the evening, in Molfetta station. Morrelli told him he was taking the train to Bari, showing him the ticket already stamped and telling him he would be back the following day. He has not been seen since.
On January 15, 1998, one of his brothers received a phone call, and the voice sounded like Morelli's but the call stopped when asked where he was.
