Circumstances of Disappearance

Agnes Le Roux, heiress of the Palais de la Mediterranee , a famous Casino in Nice, France was last seen on October 27, 1977.

It is suspected than she was killed by a lawyer,

Jean-Maurice Agnelet, whom

she was having an affair with. In June 1977, the lawyer convinced her to sell her shares of the casino to the owner of a concurrent casino. Agnes Le Roux received about 3 million Francs for the transaction, the money ended up in a common account she shared with the lawyer, then in one of his personal bank account after Agnes' disappearance.

The day she disappeared Agnes left in her white Range Rover bearing license plates 726 BEZ 75 . She was to spend the weekend with the lawyer in Italy. Her car was never located.

Agnelet was briefly arrested in 1983 but charges were dropped two years later.

In 2007 an appeal court began reviewing the December 2006 acquittal of Jean-Maurice Agnelet, who was found guilty of killing his former lover Agnes Le Roux.

Her body has never been found.
