Circumstances of Disappearance
Engelbrecht was last known to be in the company of a friend at 8:40 pm on April 10, 1995. Sonja had gone to meet him at the main train station in downtown Munich and from there they were to go to a nearby restaurant. According to the friend, they ran into 2 of his friends when they got to the restaurant and later left with them at about 1 am. April 11, 1995. The friend further stated that they went to an apartment rented by one of the friends and later left that apartment at about 2 am and walked to a subway - streetcar station on the way home. Shortly after arriving at the subway - streetcar station the friend apparently boarded a streetcar and left Sonja alone at the station. She has never been heard from since.
Munich Police believe Sonja was kidnapped and may have been either sold into slavery to the Middle East or South Eastern Europe.
