Circumstances of Disappearance

Tammy was picked up while hitchhiking in Oneida and taken to a party on the Oneida Nation territory, Route #46, on May 8, 1981.

Tammy has not been seen since her disappearance, and her remains have never been found. Investigators believe Tammy was gang raped and murdered on the Oneida Nation. Five months passed before police learned Tammy was on the Indian Territory.

The FBI released added information in 2020. One week after Tammy disappeared, someone dropped off a lost wallet at the police station. Investigators believe the wallet is directly connected to the investigation. The person who the wallet belongs to saw Tammy the night she disappeared and may know what happened to her. Subsequently, the anonymous person who discovered the wallet may also have pertinent information on the case.

Subsequent investigation over time (including a 1996 multi-agency police effort) has resulted in four persons of interest.
