Clothing & Personal Items
Circumstances of DisappearanceSharron Phillips was last seen at about 11 PM at a telephone box near Wacol Railway Station. She had walked there to ring for assistance after her yellow colored Datsun Bluebird sedan had run out of petrol on Ipswich Road near the entrance to the Wacol Migrant Centre. Many people in the area between the Wacol Railway Station and where her car was located remembered seeing her. The following day, after her car was discovered on the roadside but no one was able to get in touch with her, Sharron's mother filed a missing persons report with Goodna Police. Investigators located Sharron's shoes and black wallet in a drain under the roadway meters from where her car had been parked. A family acquaintenance came forward and stated that he saw Sharron on Ipswich Road being "bundled into a car by several men and taken away." Sharron had originally walked to the Wacol Army Barracks for a phone but was told by soldiers that there wasn't one she could use. After the 20th anniversary of her disappearance, the Queenland Times newspaper received a letter stating that Sharron had been murdered because of something she had witnessed at the barracks. Today, road signs bearing Sharron Phillips name are located on both sides of the Ipswich Motorway near where her car was found.
