She never arrived. Searches were started immediately and her bike was found that evening near the school gym. At 19.00 h, two young men had seen Sarah at the schoolyard, about 50 meters from her home. The following days, the searches were intensified, and a large area between Riddes and Martigny were searched carefully, as well as the houses in the town.
