Circumstances of Disappearance
An inquest into his disappearance in 2008 turned up reports that Harry was agitated the day he disappeared after receiving a phone call. He had also made comments to others. A work colleague reported Harry had said "I might go home for lunch, I might not come back. The water's up. I might as well go and jump into it. The inquest heard the river had reached more than 10 metres (32 feet) in the month of Harrys disappearance. There was also evidence that he was not a strong swimmer.
Harry was last seen at his place of employment in Dubbo August 2, 1990 as he left for his routine break at about 1:00 p.m. He has not contacted family or friends since this date. Mr. and Mrs. Youl had recently moved to Dubbo from Swan Hill, Victoria. The day he disappeared, Harrys wife found a note from him, it read- Dear Jan, So sorry, I can't handle work or go on any longer. I know it's the coward's way, Love Haz.
Search and rescue crews were unable to search for him at the time.
