After more than a decade the search for a missing Stewartville girl is taking another step forward.
In 1993, Heather Ann Schmoll ran away from home and headed to Florida.
Her younger sister is taking the search public and needs your help to bring Heather home.
Photos and a few memories and that's all Kristine Schmoll has to remember her older sister.
"I really like riding around with her in the car and hanging out with her friends cause that was cool and I felt cool," Schmoll stated. "You always have a whole there's always a piece of you that's missing."
Kristine was in 6th grade in 1993 when her older sister Heather Ann Schmoll ran away from home at the age of 17 and says she doesn't know why Heather left.
"You add the combination of divorce and where our parents where at and they had struggles and things you know she got lost in things," says Schmoll.
That's one question she'd love to ask her sister when she returns home, that's why earlier this week Kristine went to law enforcement for help.
"At this point the last information we've had is connecting her to an address in Daytona Beach Florida and that would have been in 1999," says Detective Lee Rossman.
Detective Rossman who is working on the case says it's unusual there wouldn't be any activity on Heathers record.
No bank accounts or credit records but he says it all depends on her situation.
"You know, you have to stay optimistic because you don't really know so it's just like you run all these scenarios in your head but we're really trying to stay optimistic and that she is out there and she's happy and for some reason she's remorseful of the things she did in her past," Rossman says.
Now Kristine is begging for anyone with information to help.
"Somewhere in Olmsted County someone knows who this boyfriend is and because my family doesn't know and it would be really wonderful to find out who this person is," says Schmoll.
And to a sister who's memory is starting to fade.
"I would say Heather, I love you and I miss you and I feel like we've missed out on a lot of memories you have 5 beautiful nieces and 2 beautiful nephews and we have a family that absolutely loves you and wants to bring you home, we think about you all the time, we're not angry, please just call us and let us know you're ok," says Schmoll.
Kristine tried to contact the authorities in the past but were told since Heather left of her own will and is now an adult, there wasn't much they could do.
