Scrima, circa 1980

Jeanne Marie Scrima
Missing since March 19, 1980 from Erie, Pennsylvania.
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Scrima was last seen departing from her boyfriend in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 19, 1980. She was en route to her farmhouse in Knox, New York at the time of her disappearance. She had promised her four children she would be there when they came home from school. Scrima never arrived at her home and has not been heard from again.
Investigators wanted to question Scrima's husband, whom she was planning to leave, but he refused to cooperate. He was aware of where she was and that she was with her new boyfriend. He never reported his wife missing to the police.
Jeanne's lawyer, reported her missing on May 4, 1980, after he was unable to get in touch with her.
Scrima's boyfriend, who was the last person to see her, is not a suspect in her disappearance. Two days before Scrima's disappearance, the couple drove her car to Erie, Pa., where he had business. They stayed at the Hilton Hotel. She told her husband that she was visiting friends or relatives when she went to Erie.
State Police, using dogs and helicopters, searched extensively on state land near Scrima's property in Knox and elsewhere.
Scrima's light blue 1977 Lincoln Continental was discovered abandoned several weeks after she was reported missing. It was seen in Ohio, and it passed through several hands in Ohio and ended up abandoned in Michigan on October 5, 1980. No evidence was found from the car. Foul play is suspected.
