Stephanie Lyn Crane
Missing since October 11, 1993 from Challis, Custer County, Idaho.
Classification: Non-Family Abduction
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance
Keith Glenn Hescock has been investigated for possible involvement in Crane's case, and also the case of Amber Shawnell Hoopes. Hescock kidnapped a 14-year-old girl in June 2002. She escaped from him and he later committed suicide. Hescock had worked for the Hoopes family, and his neighbor says he was in Challis the weekend Crane disappeared. He also owned a yellow pickup truck similar one that may be connected to Crane's case. Authorities have not been able to link him to either disappearance, however.
Crane left a bowling alley in Challis on October 11, 1993. She was last seen walking toward Challis High School at approximately 6 p.m. that evening. Crane was headed to her family's residence nearby at the time of her disappearance. She never arrived home and has not been heard from again. She is believed to have been taken against her will by a stranger. A yellow pickup truck may be connected to her disappearance.
