Reconstruction of Victim

Unidentified Asian Female

Vital Statistics

  • Estimated age: 20-40 years old
  • Approximate Height and Weight: 4'1"-5'0"
  • Distinguishing Characteristics: She is believed to be from South East Asia, but it is not known if she is a foreign national or U.K resident. Shoulder length dark brown hair. She had a medium build - though she was slightly overweight for her height. Pierced ears. Probably right-handed. She had a coil fitted. She has had a pregnancy in the past.
  • Dentals: She does not appear to have had any dental treatments. The gap at the front of her lower teeth would have been noticeable when she smiled.
  • Clothing: She was not dressed for walking, but was wearing Marks & Spencer green jeans, and white underwear. She was possibly wearing a white T-Shirt (this was found nearby and believed it may be hers). She had a 22-karat plain gold band on her left ring finger.
  • Fingerprints: Were submitted to the Thai authorities and entered into their database.

Case History
On Monday 20th September 2004, the body of a woman was found in Horton-In-Ribblesdale in North Yorkshire, close to the Pennine Way.
She was partially clothed and her body had decomposed after being in the water for several weeks. There were no injuries on her body to indicate a traumatic death.
Anthropologists, entomologists and orthodontists are confident she originates from Thailand. Officers have contacted a number of foreign embassies. Extensive searches have been made in the Sell Pot cave area and house-to-house visits have been carried out in Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Walkers on the Pennine Way have also been quizzed.
