Circumstances of Disappearance

Joanie had spent the evening at the VFW post in Meriden, Kansas with friends listening to a favorite band and dancing. She left the VFW at 1:50 am alone to head home. She was observed on video inside the building leaving the establishment alone that night. There is no exterior video surveillance.

Her expected route home would have been to head north and west back towards her home on the Prairie Bank Potawatomie reservation near Mayetta Kansas, just west of US Highway 75. Her cell phone pinged approximately 4 hours later from a tower located just south of the location of the VFW in Meriden, Kansas, just south of 74th Street. The possible radius of the location of her phone was within a seen mile radius of that tower. Further analytics show that the ping was likely located south west of the tower, between 70th south to 46th street just east of Kansas State Highway 4.

Appearances indicate that Joanie never arrived at her home that morning. Her disappearance was reported by a neighbor that had not seen her for a few days and upon checking found her small dog alone in the house. It appeared that the dog had been alone several days. Other indications were that she had expected to return home that night. Her medications were still located at her home and nothing appeared to have been missing.

She was driving a 2005 silver Chrysler Pacifica, Kansas disabled tag nmber 71664. Her car has not been located. Many searches by law enforcement and by civilians have been conducted by air, foot, horseback, drone of most routes she may have taken home, other surrounding areas, as well as sonar searches of nearby Lake Perry. The area is mostly rural, therefore there are very few instances where any kind of video surveillance may have indicated her possible route.

Her disappearance is being investigated as a possible homicide.
