Circumstances of Disappearance
Robert Kovack was last seen in Blacksburg on Friday, September 18, 1998. It was there he withdrew $80 from an ATM. His friends told police he was heading to West Virginia to attend a college football game. He was en route 17:00-19:00 Friday, September 18 from Blacksburg, VA to his home near Fairmont, WV.
He was planning on attending the WVU-Maryland Game. This was also the weekend of the VTech game at Miami.

His Geo Tracker was found parked, out of gas, on the berm of U.S. 19 at the intersection of Lancing Road near the New River Gorge Bridge five days later, on Wednesday, September 23. No signs of foul play or a struggle were found. The keys were still in the ignition. Suicide was considered but later ruled out.
Rob was a graduate student in architecture at Virginia Tech, at the time of his disappearance.
