  • Circumstances of Disappearance

    Asha was last seen by her family sleeping in her bed at approximately 2:30 a.m. on February 14, 2000. At 4:00 a.m., she was seen by motorists walking along North Carolina Highway 18 in Shelby. These were the last confirmed sightings of her. Authorities initially believed Asha left of her own accord. In August of 2001, a contractor found her bookbag approximately 50 yards away from Highway 18, 26 miles from her home. It had been double-bagged in plastic bags. Foul play is suspected.
