Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance
The last time the family heard from Andersen, it was 1982 and she was living in Gillette, Wyoming.
Since the family’s contact with Andersen was sporadic, it wasn’t until a couple years later they filed a missing person’s report with the Becker County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota. She was from Frazee, MN.
Mary Andersen has lived in Minneapolis, Portland, Sacramento, California, and Fairfield, Iowa, where she met her husband. She gave birth to a daughter, who was adopted by Mary's parents. She felt she couldn't properly care for her baby because of her epilepsy and other issues in her life, including a strained, unhealthy marriage.
After moving to Gillette, Wyoming, a small town of about 20,000 people situated between the Big Horn Mountains and the Black Hills, Mary Lynn vanished.
The last known contact was through family friends who were passing through Gillette.
When Mary Lynn didn't check in for more than a year, her family contacted her husband, who confirmed she'd disappeared.
