Teresa Marie Barbusca
Missing since May 25, 1999 from Sacramento, Sacramento County, California
Classification: Endangered Runaway

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Teresa was last seen at the Day's Inn Motel on Weber and Center Streets in Stockton, CA on May 25, 1999. She drove to Stockton, California with three friends in a borrowed van during the day. Her friends told authorities that they dropped Barbusca off at the motel.

She'd run away twice before, when she and her mother and younger sister still lived in Daly City.
When younger she talked about wanting to become a lawyer. But in high school, Teresa fell in with a streetwise crowd and started smoking pot.
In August 1998, as a new start, Ms Barbusca sent her daughter to Sacramento to live with a cousin.

Teresa found work as a cashier in a Japanese restaurant and studied for her general equivalency diploma. Yet she also found a new circle of street friends, and she was drinking heavily and doing drugs.

On May 9 her mother told Teresa that she was moving to the Sacramento area to reunite the family. Teresa was unhappy with her mother's decision. A little more than two weeks later, she ran away. During her previous runaway episodes, Teresa called home repeatedly. She was gone two days the first time, a week the second. She may still be in California.
