Circumstances of Disappearance
Benita was last seen at approximately 10:00 at a hospital in the vicinity of 13th Avenue and Hilyard Street in Eugene, OR.
On February 13th she had given birth to a 2 lb. 3oz. baby girl. She was visiting the hospital to see the baby and feed her when she was told that she would be able to take the child home that same day.
Benita was last seen with her husband with whom she was engaged in a divorce. She apparently went to call her friend to tell her the news that she was bringing the baby home and was not seen again.
Her vehicle was found abandoned in a nearby parking lot a block away at the Coca Cola bottling company. Nothing was taken or missing.
Benita’s mother filed a missing persons report.
