Circumstances of Disappearance
MacDiarmid was last seen last seen leaving the train at Kananook railway station at aproximatly 10:20 p.m. in Melbourne, Australia on July 11, 1990. She had been playing tennis with friends in Finders Park (now renamed Melbourne Park). The train was due at 10:00 p.m., but was 20 minutes late. She was never seen again.
Bloodstains were found on her car, a red 1978 Honda Civic at the
Kananook station car park, blood on the ground as well – and drag marks leading into the bushes. And on the ground was a cigarette lighter belonging to Sarah,
but no trace of her was ever found. Later, witnesses said Sarah had got off the train and crossed the footbridge to the car park, where some people heard a woman shouting, ‘Give me back my keys.’
More than 250 police conducted an extensive air, sea and land search for 21 days with no result.
Police suspect foul play. Serial killer Paul Denyer
has been concidered a suspect in her abduction.
