Circumstances of Disappearance
Karen Williams was last seen in Coober Pedy on August 4, 1990. She was dropped off in the early morning hours about 100 meters (328 feet) from her home.

That night, she had gone to a Friday night disco at the Opal Inn. She then went to a late-night coffee shop with three friends. At approximately 04:30, she left the coffee shop with her friends. Her mother reported her missing two days later. Police made extensive inquiries but were unable to locate her. Karen was dressed in evening wear and was not carrying any money.

An attractive outgoing teenager, Karen was living at home and studying in a local TAFE course. The local Aboriginal community has contacted communities all over Australia but she has not been seen since. There is no reason to believe she would have left on her own.
